Seeing Red

I have been so busy with projects this weekend! Erin and I had to convince my hubby to let me paint the dresser in our bedroom red, but I think now that it is done, he is a fan:). Nothing like a project that gets done in one day. It is so easy to feel proud of yourself when you accomplish something!

4 cans of glossy cherry spray paint later, and I am a happy girl....

Happy Sunday!

Chevron Please!

Ok, ok , ok....you all know by now that Erin and I are a little obsessed with chevron print....but it is so chic right now, I want it EVERYWHERE! So, when our 3 year old got sick and it was necessary to scrub every inch of our guest bathroom, I took it as a sign to redecorate:).....I ordered this chevron print from buyfabrics.com and used the pleating technique I recently learned from doing drapes for my Sis's house. I am pretty stoked about the way it turned out!

If for girls...

My wonderful Aunt La gave me this amazing treasure that has been in my family for years. It is amazing to me how something from so long ago can still be so relevant today.

If for girls...

If you can hear the whispering about you
  And never yield to deal in whispers too
If you can bravely smile when loved ones doubt you
  An never doubt in turn what loved ones do;
If you can keep a sweet and gentle spirit,
  In spite of fame or fortune, rank or place,
And though you win your goal or only near it
  Can win with poise or lose with equal grace;

If you can meet Unbelief, believing.
  And hallow in your heart a simple Creed;
If you can meet Deception, undeceiving
  And learn to look to God for all you need;
If you can be what girls should be to mothers:
  Chums in joy and comrades in distress,
And be unto others as you'd have the others
  Be unto you -- no more, and yet, no less;

If you can keep within your heart the power
  To say that firm, unconquerable "No"
If you can brave a present shadowed hour
  Rather than yield to build a future woe;
If you can love, yet not let loving master
  But keep yourself within your own self's clasp,
And let not dreaming lead you to disaster
  Nor Pitty's fascination loose your grasp;

If you can lock your heart on confidences
  Nor ever needlessly in turn confide;
If you can put behind you all presenses
  Of mock humility or foolish pride;
If you can keep the simple, homely virtue
  Of walking right with God --The have no fear
That anything in all the world can hurt you
  And - which is more - you'll be a Woman, dear.

the latest and greatest

Here is a peek at some of the updates and changes I have made around the house...

Headboards for the bedrooms...
this one is homemade... maybe I will add some wood moulding to finish it off?

for the guestroom too!

Some bathroom additions...
a new frame for my mirror from my wonderful brother & sissy...

 A new shower curtain via west elm...

a rustic shelf in other bath + a chalk board wall... because who doesn't want to write on the bathroom walls?

Some love to the living room....
a pair of new chairs...

 seating for the bay window... pillows from ikea's patio section.
 What to do for a block wall that you don't want to put holes in?... mirrored stickers from TJ MAXX!!!

My favorite record stand, with a fresh coat of YELLOW paint makes it pop!

 And a goodwill do over... a coat of paint and some pretty feet.

Hope you enjoyed the tour...

The Wissing House

I just returned from the most wonderful trip to Rhode Island. I was told that you can drive through the entire state in 45 minutes. But there is far too much to see to take it that fast. As a true zonie, I have hardly seen a building built before 1950, let alone 1850. The homes were so beautiful and classic. It was inspiring to see.

We visited the most adorable little town, Bristol. We were lucking enough to stay at this amazing bed & breakfast, The Wissing House.  The decor was amazing. Unfortunately it made me want to come home and paint everything I own white! Oh yeah, and I fell in love with ferns!

Did I forget to mention how breathtaking the backyard garden was?

And the front entry....

Needless to say.. it was a lovely trip with my honey ...

rock n' roll

I was looking at this amazing rocker on bhg.com today, and decided to see if I could find it online. The internet is a beautiful thing. Within 2 minutes I had found, fallen in love, and purchased this heavenly rocking chair. It just awaits a future baby to be rocked in it!
